Search engine
In this section, you can use our search engine to look for social development services near you. You can do searches in many different ways. Follow the guidelines below to find information about what organisations do, where services are rendered, what projects are up and running in your community, and how to contact organisations. You can search according to one category at a time, or according to several or all of the categories simultaneously. Click on either one of the ‘search’ buttons once you are ready to perform your search.
Organisation name: If you know the full name, or part of the name of the organisation you are looking for, type it into the space provided. All organisations with this name (or parts of the name) will be listed in the search results. If you do not know the organisation’s name, use one or more of the other categories to search for services.
Sector of service delivery: You can use the dropdown menu to search entire sectors. For example, if you are interested in health services, simply select ‘Health’ from the sector menu and click on the ‘search’ button. All organisations that have indicated an involvement in the Health sector will be listed in the search results.
Focus of service delivery: You can use the dropdown menu to search for services according to the focus of service delivery. For example, if you are interested in services focused on children, simply select ‘children’ from the focus menu and click on the ‘search’ button. All organisations that have indicated that children are a part of their focus will be listed in the search results.
Keyword search: You can do a keyword search by typing keywords into the space provided. If your keywords match information in the following fields, the search results will produce the organisation’s information:
- The organisation’s name
- The organisation’s description of services
- Very particular geographic areas of service delivery (if the organisation provided this information)
- Focus of service delivery indicated specifically by an organization, but not included necessarily in the dropdown menu for service delivery
Searching according to geographic area:
In this section you can search for services operating in specific geographic areas. Combine searches in this section with the search categories above to find out what happens where.
Organisations operating nationally and internationally:
If you tick the box marked ‘international’, all organisations that indicated operating on an international level will be listed in your search results. If you tick the box marked ‘national’, all organisations that indicated operating on a national level will be listed.
Further refining your search…You can utilise the dropdown menus below to search for organisations operating in specific geographic areas within South Africa. Please note that you must first select a larger geographic area before you can select smaller areas. For example, if you are looking for a service in the Stellenbosch area, you should first select a province (for example, Western Cape). Secondly, you should select a district municipality (for example, Cape Winelands District Municipality). Thirdly, you should select a local municipality (for example, Stellenbosch Local Municipality). Finally, you can select a suburb within that municipality (for example, Stellenbosch town, or Franschhoek). Please note: The database currently focuses on the Stellenbosch municipal area, and only suburbs from this area are included in the dropdown menus. For other areas, you can search up to the level of local municipal area. |
